Close Encounters…

Getting closer to nature…

5 September 2019: Hiking in the Caumsett State Park and getting to see this Red Tailed Hawk up close was a big treat. The #ReWildYourLife challenge has provided some great opportunities for wildlife encounters thus far and it is only the beginning …

Trying some Skying…

Fun with ReWilding challenges…

3 September 2019: Having fun with the #ReWildYourLife challenge activities doing things like “skying,” which is as simple as taking 30 minutes outside to “look up” and just watch the sky. A great way to unwind and relax after a hectic summer of events…

Long Island Shores…

Exploring close to home…

1 September 2019: Back to home base on Long Island for a few weeks to enjoy the last days of summer out east. Exploring with a purpose for the next few weeks as part of the #ReWildYourLife challenge which is designed to bring us all a bit closer to nature and help us tune in to our environment…

PREVIOUS NOTES FROM THE ROAD >

THIS MONTH:

The #ReWildYourLife challenge is a self-paced challenge with activities designed to be completed over 30 days. Created by the We Are Wildness group the challenge was intended as an antidote to “modern life” where we are so busy with to-do lists that keep us distracted and cut off from the natural world. Studies show the positive health benefits of spending time in the natural world including lowered stress, increased creativity, feelings of peace and an enhanced sense of wonder. The challenge activities are based around spending at least 30 minutes a day outside in a natural space, which is the perfect amount of time to to relax, calm your breathing and adjust your senses to the more subtle world of Nature…

COMING UP SOON:

Heading out to Phoenix in October to join the Girl Gang Garage ladies and help out with the All-Female Build project lead by Bogi Lateiner. Set up in 2018, Girl Gang Garage acts as a catalyst of change by providing women of all ages with open and uninhibited access to hands-on training and initiatives that introduce this underrepresented audience to the many transformative careers within the automotive industry. The goal is to empower women and provide them the tools to redefine their identities and ultimately breakdown the barriers that have limited their access or awareness to the many career opportunities within the trades. Girl Gang Garage is more than a physical location it is a living breathing network of women, ranging from novices to industry veterans all coming together with the singular goal of growing stronger together and developing new opportunities for the next generation…
